Title: Additive Manufacturing R&D knowledge management and deployment – industry standard best practise

Session:
TBA

Abstract:
Qualification and certification of Additive Manufacturing (AM) require extensive measurements and characterization. This introduces significant data management and analysis challenges. Furthermore, seamless connectivity of AM data to design and simulation is required to ensure a complete and accurate digital twin and digital thread.

The amount of data that is generated during qualification can makes data access, data analysis and process traceability difficult. Expensive, data intensive tests (e.g. tensile, fatigue, CT) are required on multiple builds and parts with different process settings. In addition, data from AM machines, powders and builds need to be captured and linked together to enable complete process traceability, process-property insights, and single source access to AM knowledge.

The digital twin, a virtual representation of products or processes to predict performance, and the digital thread, connecting together all aspects of part/product lifecycle (e.g. design, manufacturing, simulation), require instant access to relevant data from entire AM process chain.

This presentation will discuss data requirements for digital thread and digital twin, as well as methodology and process to efficiently capture measured and simulated AM data, enabling instant data access, data analysis and process traceability.
