Join Professor Mike Ashby for an introduction to the new Materials Science and Engineering Edition of CES EduPack 2019. With a focus on interactive learning, hear how visual tools, such as the Interactive Phase Diagram, can be used to engage students on Callister-based introductory courses.

“The Phase Diagram Tool is an extremely valuable interactive simulation that effectively demonstrates, to users, the interpretation of phase diagrams and how this information may be applied to understanding the development of microstructure.” – Prof. Bill Callister

What you will learn

  • Hear how the new MS&E Edition can engage students across different disciplines on Introductory Materials courses
  • See how challenging relationships between processing, structure and properties can be taught in a visual way
  • Learn how topics such as Additive Manufacturing, Sustainability, Biomedical, and Functional Materials can be easily incorporated into introductory classes, so that students have a well-rounded view of materials.

Who should take part?

  • Anyone teaching introductory materials or related courses in engineering, science, or design.

About Granta Design

Granta Design is the leader in materials information technology, helping engineering enterprises to manage vital data and information about materials, analyze it to develop ‘material intelligence’, and apply that intelligence to make smart decisions across product design and development. We support the entire product lifecycle by integrating materials knowledge into design, simulation, and PLM, supporting 'cradle-to-cradle' product engineering.

About CES EduPack

CES EduPack is the world-leading teaching resource for materials in engineering, science, processing, and design. It provides a comprehensive database of materials and process information and powerful tools to visualise data, select materials, assess environmental impact, and model hybrid materials and the cost of manufacturing. A range of supporting lectures, projects, case studies, and exercises are provided via Granta’s Education Hub. With specialist editions for specific disciplines, and three levels of the database and software to suit varying needs in all years of undergraduate study and in postgraduate teaching, CES EduPack is a curriculum-wide resource.
